About Accor

Accor is Australia’s largest hotel group, with over 200 hotels in Australia ranging from luxury to economy and including prime city and regional destinations as well as the country’s most popular resort locations.

Accor operates the brands Sofitel, Pullman, MGallery, Grand Mercure, Novotel, Mercure, All Seasons, Ibis and Formule 1 in Australia, and recently acquired the hotel brands of the Mirvac group – Sea Temple, Quay West, Quay Grand, Sebel and Citygate. Accor was also the founder of the pioneering  base backpacker chain in Australia and New Zealand.

Accor first entered the Australian market in 1991 and has grown rapidly through acquisition of management contracts and selective investment in specific hotel projects and hotel companies.

Accor operates hotels in every State and Territory and has almost three times more hotels than its nearest competitor in Australia.

A priority of Accor in recent years has been to grow its franchise hotel division. There are some 60 franchised hotels in the Accor Australia network, with Accor providing branding, and sales, marketing and reservations support, while the owners operate the hotel on an ongoing basis.

In the past four years Accor has opened a number of key hotels as well as introduced two new brands to the marketplace – the 5-star Pullman brand and the boutique deluxe MGallery hotel collection.

In 2012, Accor added the hotels in the Ayers Rock Resort complex to its network, reflecting Accor’s high profile in indigenous tourism.

The company is the market leader in the economy hotel sector through its range of Ibis hotels, which is currently amalgamating three brands – Ibis, All Seasons and Formule 1, under the one Ibis brand. The brand will operate at three levels – Ibis, Ibis Budget (Formule 1) and Ibis Styles (All Seasons.

Accor is both an owner and a manager/operator of hotels. The company invests selectively in new and existing hotel developments to ensure the realisation of strategic projects. Accor Asia Pacific is a major shareholder in the Australian hotel investment company, Tourism Asset Holdings Ltd (TAHL), Australia’s largest hotel owning company.

Other tourism related businesses

In addition to hotel management, Accor owns and operates the country’s leading timeshare business, Accor Vacation Club, and manages the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre at Darling Harbour (the largest convention centre in Australia).

More than 10,000 people are employed by Accor in Australia, and Accor operates its own training academy (Academie Accor) as well as being the pioneer in employing and developing the careers of indigenous Australians. Accor has operated its own Indigenous Employment Programme since 2011, introducing over over 1000 indigenous Australians to the hospitality industry.
