Inbound Up North opens the door on international tourism markets

The Australian Tourism Export Council (ATEC), in partnership with Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ), will hold the 17th annual Inbound Up North event, a 3-day program of meetings and networking events aimed at raising the profile of the region as an international tourism destination.

Inbound Up North, to be held in Cairns on 19th - 21st October, will provide local tourism businesses the opportunity to showcase their tourism product and strengthen their commercial relationships with close to 50 Australian based international buyers from around the country.

“Queensland, and Cairns in particular, has a fast growing international visitor market and Inbound Up North provides a great opportunity for local tourism businesses to extend their connection with the international market,” ATEC Managing Director, Peter Shelley said today.

“Being front of mind with the influential international trade network, responsible for developing and promoting travel itineraries to international wholesalers, is vital to the success of many tourism businesses in North Queensland and Inbound Up North is a forum that allows local tourism businesses to update the market on what they have to offer.

“TEQ has long been highly supportive of this annual event which has become a significant feature of the travel trade calendar, and we look forward to continuing this collaboration.”

TEQ Chief Executive Officer, Leanne Coddington, said Queensland was experiencing record international visitor growth with just under 2.5 million overseas travellers spending $5.1 billion in the State in the last year.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to further connect inbound tour operators with our Queensland tourism industry and share our incredible experiences within key visitor markets around the world,” Ms Coddington said.

Inbound Up North, the export tourism industry’s ‘must-do event’ will be held in Cairns from 19th - 21st October. This unique ATEC event provides a full day of B2B workshop meetings, networking functions and a full day of activities.

ATEC’s Principal Partner, Qantas, is a major sponsor of Inbound Up North.
