ATEC has 3 main member types:
- Inbound Tour Operator/Online Operator
- Supplier
- Professional Service
There are different levels of membership within these member types which depend on the number of staff employed by the company, see below for more details.
Major Inbound Tour Operator Any individual, firm, partnership, association or corporation incorporated or registered in Australia (or a discrete division or branch of such an association or corporation) who or which carries on business as an Inbound Tour Operator as its primary business and has done so for not less than one year immediately preceding the date of lodgement of its application for membership. And has 10 or more full-time staff or equivalent.
Significant Inbound Tour Operator Any individual, firm, partnership, association or corporation incorporated or registered in Australia (or a discrete division or branch of such an association or corporation) who or which carries on business as an inbound tour operator as its primary business and has done so for less than one year immediately preceding the date of lodgment of its application for membership. And has less than 10 full-time staff or equivalent.
Major Online Operator An online operator is any individual, firm, partnership, association or corporation incorporated or registered in Australia (or a discrete division or branch of such an association or corporation) who or which: i) is actively involved in providing products and/or services to the tourism export industry in Australia and/or overseas visitors to Australia; and ii) whose sole medium for distribution of their product and/or service is the internet iii) and has 10 or more full-time staff or equivalent.
Significant Online Operator An online operator is any individual, firm, partnership, association or corporation incorporated or registered in Australia (or a discrete division or branch of such an association or corporation) who or which: i) is actively involved in providing products and/or services to the tourism export industry in Australia and/or overseas visitors to Australia; and ii) whose sole medium for distribution of their product and/or service is the internet iii) and has less than 10 full-time staff or equivalent.
Major Supplier Any individual, firm, partnership, association or corporation incorporated or registered in Australia (or a discrete division or branch of such an association or corporation) who or which: i) is actively involved in providing products and/or services to the tourism export industry in Australia and/or overseas visitors to Australia; and ii) provides support services nationally or has 50 or more full-time staff or equivalent.
Significant Supplier Any individual, firm, partnership, association or corporation incorporated or registered in Australia (or a discrete division or branch of such an association or corporation) who or which: i) is actively involved in providing products and/or services to the tourism export industry in Australia and/or overseas visitors to Australia; and ii) is a significant tourism export supplier with between 21 and 49 full time staff or equivalent.
Supplier Any individual, firm, partnership, association or corporation incorporated or registered in Australia (or a discrete division or branch of such an association or corporation) who or which: i) is actively involved in providing products and/or services to the tourism export industry in Australia and/or overseas visitors to Australia; and ii) is a significant tourism export supplier with 20 or less full time staff or equivalent.
Major Professional Services Any individual, firm, partnership, association or corporation incorporated or registered in Australia (or a discrete division or branch of such an association or corporation) who or which: i) is actively involved in providing non-tourism products and/or services to the tourism export industry in Australia and/or overseas visitors to Australia; and ii) is a major product/service supplier with 50 or more full-time staff or equivalent.
Significant Professional Services Any individual, firm, partnership, association or corporation incorporated or registered in Australia (or a discrete division or branch of such an association or corporation) who or which: i) is actively involved in providing non-tourism products and/or services to the tourism export industry in Australia and/or overseas visitors to Australia; and ii) is a significant product/service supplier with between 21 and 49 full time staff or equivalent.
Professional Services Any individual, firm, partnership, association or corporation incorporated or registered in Australia (or a discrete division or branch of such an association or corporation) who or which: i) is actively involved in providing non-tourism products and/or services to the tourism export industry in Australia and/or overseas visitors to Australia; and ii) is a product/service supplier with 20 or less full time staff or equivalent.
Additional Location Major ITOs, major online operators, major suppliers and major professional services members are eligible to add up to six inclusive additional location supplementary memberships that they can allocate to their offices or properties in other locations. Significant ITOs; significant online operators; significant suppliers; and significant professional services members are eligible to add up to three. Additional location members receive all the benefits of a full member with the exception of voting rights.
Extra Location Extra Locations can be purchased over and above the additional locations for other offices or properties in other locations. Extra Location members receive all the benefits of a full member with the exception of voting rights.
Educational Institution Any registered training authority in Australia who or which offers a tourism curriculum to students currently enrolled at the institution.
Individual Any individual, who is a product representative or individual consultant and is actively involved in the tourism export industry in Australia and/or with overseas visitors to Australia, who is invited in writing by the Board in its sole and absolute discretion to become an Individual Member.
Honorary Life Any individual who is declared by a resolution of the Board to be a person who has rendered outstanding or conspicuous services to the company or to the development of the tourism export industry in Australia (through marketing, research, education, management, development of tourist facilities or otherwise) for an extended period of time may be elected by the Board as an Honorary Life Member. An honorary life member shall be exempt from the payment of entrance fees and subscriptions and shall be entitled to the same rights and privileges as a supplier member.
Young ATEC Any individual aged 35 years and under who is an employee of a member.
Allied Association The category of Allied Association is an annual honorary membership category available to industry associations with similar objectives to ATEC for the development and promotion of the Australian tourism industry. The membership may or may not involve a reciprocal relationship between ATEC and the association and may or may not involve a membership fee. |
