ATEC Life Members

Life Membership of the Australian Tourism Export Council was introduced by the board in 1996 during ITOA's (Inbound Tour Operators of Australia; now ATEC) 25th Anniversary.

 

ATEC Life Membership is awarded for outstanding or conspicuous services to the Company or to the development of the tourism export industry in Australia (through marketing, research, education, management, development of tourist facilities or otherwise) for an extended period of time.

 

 

1996

Des Whelan: the inaugural Chairman of ITOA is a Life Member of ATEC and currently resides in the United States of America.

 

1998

Irene Scholtz was formerly ITOA General Manager. Irene sadly passed away in June 2007.

 

1999

Michael Mannington was Chairman of ITOA from 1997 to 1998.

 

2001

John Morse was awarded a Life Membership in recognition of his contribution to ITOA and the tourism industry over an extended period of time.

 

2004

The Hon. Joe Hockey, former Federal Tourism Minister was put forward by Andrew Burnes.

 

2006

Ron Murray, of Murray's Coaches, for his services to tourism and transport.

 

2008

Sir Frank Moore AO for his leadership in areas of tourism product-development and services to education in tourism.

 

2009

Captain Trevor Haworth AM for his services to the cruise and tourism industries.
